There has been so much hoopla lately about G.K. and preparing for his big debut in the show dog world that we forgot about these photos from our last visit to Maine! We, Frenchies, wouldn’t want to deprive you of our adventures, so take a look and we hope you enjoy!
1 Francesca, with so many sweeping views of the ocean, it's little wonder why Martha loves it here in Mt. Desert Island and we're so fortunate to be able to travel here with her.
2 So tell us, Cheryl and Gretchen, what is it like taking care of Skylands, with all of its history? You always seem to be smiling, even when you're folding the laundry, which, by the way, looks very bright and white - just the way Martha like it!
3 One thing I don't understand is Martha's fascination with taxidermy. The word 'taxidermy' is derived from two ancient Greek words; taxis, meaning movement; and derma, meaning skin. Do you think these ducks still have their skin?
4 They don't make the greatest conversationalists. I think I'll go find Sharkey who is a little bit more lively!
5 Sharkey, I'm always so impressed when I see this larger-than-life bronze 1934 nude, reclining woman, called La Riviere, by French sculptor and painter Aristide Maillol! Being French, do you think he sculpted any French bulldogs?
6 It's such a nice day. Don't you think, Franny and G.K.? No one seems to be playing on the tennis court though. Let's play a quick game, girls versus boy!
7 Wait, girls! This is a hardcourt and we don't have white tennis shoes on! Do you think our paws will mark up the court? Maybe we shouldn't be playing out here...
8 Frenchies, isn't it nice of Martha to take us out into the town of Bar Harbour? The town's name comes from the visible sand and gravel bar in the harbor.
9 Bar Harbor is also home to the Great Harbor Maritime Museum. This building used to be a fire station but now displays a variety of historical items, like this giant anchor.
10 This town sure has a lot of history, girls! Did you know also that Bar Harbor was the birthplace of vice-president Nelson Rockefeller?
11 It's also a great place to socialize with the locals! We have no problems making friends wherever we go.
12 The late afternoons are a perfect time to take a stroll on the beach and watch the sunset.
13 Franny, don't you love these deep sinks in the laundry room? Perfect for warming up and washing off the remnants of the beach.
